As a Global Design Principal of Aedas, Ken Wai is passionate about architecture. He received professional training in the United Kingdom and has over 35 years of experience in major international practices. During these years, he has been involved in the design of various iconic buildings around the world and received numerous international accolades from the industry.

In his book Seeking Equilibrium, Ken defines architectural design as a continuous search for an equilibrium between sense and sensibility – sense in terms of sound judgment based on practical ideas or understanding; and sensibility being good aesthetic judgment. In every commission he undertakes, he initially seeks to understand the design objectives and then strikes the perfect balance between achieving those objectives, functionality, and design excellence.

Ken directs the designs of a broad spectrum of architectural projects on both national and global scales. His specialization lies in holistic mixed-use developments, major infrastructure facilities, high-end office towers, luxurious hotels as well as bespoke private residences. Over the years, he has produced numerous well-acclaimed designs that earned him various awards and honours.

Main master works: Beijing Sina Plaza, Hangzhou DAMO Academy R&D campus for Alibaba, Guangzhou Kingboard Plaza and Hong Kong private residence THR350.

Apart from being one of the design leaders in Aedas, he is very committed to education and professional developments. He has served as an External Examiner for the University of Hong Kong and the Chairperson on the Advisory Board of XJTLU Architecture Department. In 2021, he was awarded the honor of Li Dehua & Luo Xiaowei Design Chair Professor by Tongji University. And he is currently the Council member of RIBA Asia and Australasia and the Honorary Chair of RIBA China Chapter.

韦业启作为Aedas全球设计董事，在英国接受严谨而系统的建筑专业教育，并在大型国际建筑设计事务所拥有超过35年的建筑设计经验，曾设计全球诸多标志性建筑，屡获大奖。

韦业启在他的英文版作品集《寻找平衡：韦业启的建筑世界》中说：“建筑设计是不断地在理性和感性之间寻找平衡的历程。理性是指基于实践的正确判断力，而感性则是有品味的审美能力。”韦业启在他接受的每个委托中，都务求首先明确设计目的，然后力争在完成这些目标、实现功能性及设计卓越性之间达到理想均衡。

韦业启一直在中国和世界范围主导具有跨越度的各种类型的建筑设计，尤其擅长大型综合体开发、重要基础设施、高端办公楼、奢华酒店以及私人寓所等。

设计代表作品包括：北京新浪总部大楼，杭州阿里巴巴达摩院南湖园区项目，广州南沙建滔广场，香港THR350私人寓所等。

除了作为Aedas的设计负责人之一，韦业启亦对教育及专业发展极其重视，他曾担任香港大学校外导师及西交利物浦大学建筑学院咨询委员会主席，2021年被同济大学授予李德华&罗小未设计教席教授荣誉，并现任RIBA China Chapter 荣誉主席及RIBA理事成员-亚洲及澳大拉西亚区域，致力于实现建筑在世界更广范围的积极影响。
